Terms of Service
Last Updated: November 2025
1. Introduction
Welcome to eyeBlink. These Terms govern your use of our services. If you disagree, please do not use our services.
2. Use of Services
Our services provide secure, temporary communication through ephemeral notes (encrypted with AES-256-CBC, configurable view limits), end-to-end encrypted chat rooms (AES-256-GCM with ECDH key exchange, multi-room support, message history), and temporary file sharing (images, documents, archives, media, code files - max 1GB, encrypted with AES-256-CBC, configurable download limits). All content is automatically deleted after expiration or when usage limits are reached.
Do not misuse our services, attempt unauthorized access, or use the platform for illegal activities. Prohibited uses include but are not limited to: distribution of malware, illegal content, harassment, or violation of any applicable laws.
Use our services responsibly. Respect rate limits (100 requests per 15 minutes), do not abuse the system, and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations in your jurisdiction.
Violation of these terms or any misuse of our services may lead to immediate termination of your access, IP blocking, and potential legal action where appropriate.
3. Data Privacy and Retention
eyeBlink is built for privacy. All data is ephemeral and automatically deleted. We do not track, store, or share user identities or personal information.
Ephemeral Data:
All user-generated content (notes, chat messages, files) is stored temporarily with strict expiration times: notes default to 60 minutes (with configurable maximum view counts and expiration up to 3 days), chat rooms default to 15 minutes (with configurable expiration up to 3 days, multi-room support, message history, typing indicators, read receipts, message reactions, and user nicknames), and files default to 60 minutes (with configurable maximum download counts and expiration up to 3 days). Files are stored in S3-compatible cloud storage (DigitalOcean Spaces) for secure, scalable, multi-region access. All data is automatically deleted upon expiration or when usage limits are reached. No permanent storage occurs.
Non-Personal Data:
We collect non-personal technical data (IP addresses, browser type, device information) for security, performance monitoring, and abuse prevention. This data is not linked to your identity and is used solely for operational purposes. The application supports 7 languages (English, French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Portuguese, German) with RTL support for Arabic, and language preferences are stored in cookies.
Encryption:
Notes are encrypted using AES-256-CBC before storage with configurable view count limits and expiration times up to 3 days. Chat messages are end-to-end encrypted using AES-256-GCM with ECDH key exchange (prime256v1 curve), ensuring only chat participants can decrypt messages. Chat rooms support multi-room participation, message history, typing indicators, read receipts, message reactions, and user nicknames. Rooms have configurable expiration times up to 3 days (default: 15 minutes). Files are encrypted using AES-256-CBC before storage in S3-compatible cloud storage (DigitalOcean Spaces) with configurable download count limits and expiration times up to 3 days, and are automatically decrypted during download.
